HOUSTON – Today about 500 people gathered in front of the Egyptian Consulate General in Houston to support the Egyptian people’s struggle for democracy. Attendees held signs demanding the removal of President Hosni Mubarak and expressed solidarity with the struggles ongoing throughout Egypt.
Chants were loud and vigorous and most were in Arabic. The crowd included women, children and men. Many representatives of left organizations joined the rally and held signs urging support for democracy in Egypt. Participants were diverse and included people from all ethnic groups.
The demonstration was entirely peaceful, yet certainly made its point in a forceful way.
