STATEMENT OF THE US PEACE COUNCIL
The US Peace Council firmly supports the opposition of the Cyprus Peace Council and the people of Cyprus to joining the “Partnership for Peaceâ€, imperialism’s introduction to NATO.
At this time, when the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa, are heroically struggling for real people’s democracy and, in the course of that struggle, against the role of US imperialism and their European imperialist allies
in their societies, this proposal is to inveigle the people of Cyprus to become camp followers of imperialism. It would serve as a blow to the desires and yearning of the people of Cyprus to reunite their country as an independent sovereign
nation.
This proposal comes, too, when progressive forces are actively mobilizing opposition to NATO, imperialism’s global army. The US Peace Council is committed to that struggle and join hands with the Cyprus Peace Council and all progressive
forces.
